Paragon Winery is the “youngest old” winery from North Macedonia, founded with the idea to create quality wine that blends tradition with a modern approach. We are located in the village of Krivolak, in one of the country’s most important wine regions – Tikvesh. Nestled in the foothills of the Konechka mountain and near the Vardar River, the winery benefits from natural conditions that are ideal for viticulture. With a production capacity of 500,000 liters and 300 hectares of our own vineyards, we are dedicated to offering wines that consistently reflect quality, have a clear identity, and appeal to every generation. Our barrel cellar has a capacity of 30,000 liters and is equipped with both French and Slavonian oak barrels.
Additionally, we are very proud to be the only winery in Macedonia that uses amphorae for aging a portion of our wines. Our portfolio features both local grape varieties, such as Žilavka, Župljanka, Graševina, Vranac, Kratošija, and Stanushina, as well as international varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. We prioritize quality at every stage, from careful grape selection in the vineyards to innovative practices, ensuring excellence in every bottle.
Rooted in tradition.
Grown with passion. Crafted with care.
T he vineyards
Our wine story begins in the Ovche Pole region – one of the driest and windiest areas in the Balkans. It is here, on rolling hills at altitudes between 100 and 200 meters, that our 300 hectares of Paragon vineyards stretch across the landscape. The region’s distinctive conditions – hot summers, cold winters, and various soils like rocky, calcareous, and clay – challenge the vines to adapt and produce grapes with intense and rich aromas.
The ever-present wind provides natural ventilation and significantly reduces the risk of disease, while the pronounced difference between day and night temperatures enhances the aromatic complexity of the grapes. In the micro-locations of Lozovo, Crnilishte, and Milino, we grow both international varieties (Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir) and local ones (Grasevina, Smederevka, Vranec, Zupljanka, Zilavka). Particularly important to our identity are our old vines of Zupljanka and Zilavka in Milino – over 40 years old – representing a unique combination of heritage and terroir.
The wines shaped by this environment are authentic, expressive, and deeply rooted in regional character – a reflection of a terroir that both challenges and inspires.
In addition to our estate-grown grapes in Ovche Pole, we maintain long-term partnerships with trusted growers from carefully selected micro-locations in the Tikvesh region – including Pepelishte, Korija, Vojsanci, and Krivolak – ensuring consistent quality every harvest.
